TEACHING SKILLS FOR 20 YEARS!
Coach Bob Guy began his Girl's Basketball
summer camp experiences as the program director at the Al Cervi/Al Masino
camps at Hobart William Smith Colleges in the mid 1980s.
In 1989 Coach Guy started his first
SuperCamp at SUNY Geneseo. His philosophy was simple... provide
a skills camp that features a top quality staff and a positive learning
experience at an affordable price. While most camps at that time
featured the "games only" approach to learning, Coach Guy established a
"SKILLS" oriented Girl's Basketball SuperCamp, and at that moment the
camp motto, "We Teach Skills", was born.
After meeting with tremendous success at
Geneseo, Coach Guy began offering the same SuperCamp "skills" experience
at several nearby New York State Colleges and Universities. Low fees, a
low camper to coach ratio, and the retention of outstanding
coaches has helped SuperCamps continue to grow. SuperCamps is a
program in motion!!
Although the initial SuperCamp experience
was designed for girls wishing to fine tune their basketball stills,
there was much interest from other sports to take the "We Teach Skills"
approach and expand it. With that idea in mind, during the past
ten years, SuperCamps have developed the same SKILLS concept in girls
and boys volleyball, boys basketball, girls soccer and cheerleading.
These camps offer excellent training along with top flight coaching. All
of our additional SuperCamps continue to grow as we pride ourselves in
our slogan.
SuperCamps continues to evaluate its
programs and look toward the future. Plans are underway to offer a
girls lacrosse and a wrestling SuperCamp. We continue to try new ideas
and always welcome input and suggestions from coaches, campers and their
families.
